چکیده

Data on molecular interactions is increasing at a tremendous pace, while the development of solid methods for analyzing this network data is lagging behind. This holds in particular for the field of comparative network analysis, where one wants to identify commonalities between biological networks. Since biological functionality primarily operates at the network level, there is a clear need for topology-aware comparisonmethods. In this paper we present amethod for global network alignment that is fast and robust, and can flexibly deal with various scoring schemes taking both node-to-node correspondences as well as network topologies into account. It is based on an integer linear programming formulation, generalizing the well-studied quadratic assignment problem. We obtain strong upper and lower bounds for the problem by improving a Lagrangian relaxation approach and introduce the software tool natalie 2.0, a publicly available implementation of our method. In an extensive computational study on protein interaction networks for six different species, we find that our newmethod outperforms alternative state-of-the-art methods with respect to quality and running time. 2.

Prediction of breeding values for the milk production trait in Iranian Holstein cows applying artificial neural networks

The artificial neural networks, the learning algorithms and mathematical models mimicking the information processing ability of human brain can be used non-linear and complex data. The aim of this study was to predict the breeding values for milk production trait in Iranian Holstein cows applying artificial neural networks. Data on 35167 Iranian Holstein cows recorded between 1998 to 2009 were ...

Combinatorial Systems and Schema and their Cohomology with Applications in Organizational Systems

The category of combinatorial systems is a model category for ”scaling up” algorithms. This involves networks of algorithms, herein called schedules, acting on very wide range of inputs types that are outputs from other algorithms. This patching algorithms over networks gives rise to the subcategory of combinatorial modules which are an algebraic analogy for the creation of manifolds from Eucli...

Geographically distinct reproductive schedules in a changing world: Costly implications in captive Stonechats.

With progressively faster global change, shifts in phenology, and distributional ranges are reported for an increasing number of species. The success of organisms at coping with novel seasonal conditions depends on the mechanisms that determine their schedules. Species that rely on fixed schedules and those that time their activities by predictive cues may be particularly constrained in their a...

L2 Learners’ Enhanced Pragmatic Comprehension of Implicatures via Computer-Mediated Communication and Social Media Networks

Second or foreign language (L2) learners’ development of interlanguage pragmatic (ILP) competence to understand and properly interpret utterances under certain social and cultural circumstances plays a pivotal role in the achievement of communicative competence. The current study was designed to explore the effects of synchronous computer-mediated communication (SCMC) and asynchronous com...

Advancing breeding phenology does not affect incubation schedules in chestnut‐crowned babblers: Opposing effects of temperature and wind

Projecting population responses to climate change requires an understanding of climatic impacts on key components of reproduction. Here, we investigate the associations among breeding phenology, climate and incubation schedules in the chestnut-crowned babbler (Pomatostomus ruficeps), a 50 g passerine with female-only, intermittent incubation that typically breeds from late winter (July) to earl...
